UoC final part
Hello people,
How were all those moments of waiting? How were all those memories you embraced?
That wide smile...
Come along with that, there is more to see...
Out of the stadium... left or right? Definitely not right because, there in the far end, you can find a board reading "ladies hostel".
It's not because that place isn't one among my favourites, but it's because that place was so dear that words would fail to describe it. The place that saw every part of me, the place that taught me how different threads can be woven together into the warmest blanket. If I begin to speak about the sharing, caring, and the sleepless nights, it would go for on and on. Every tiny plant, every single wall there would tell you how some girls lived there.
So we move to the left...
Walk and walk and walk (yes sometimes especially the morning walks to the department seems to take an eternity.) Obviously, as you guessed, because we are always late. And off to the Department of English ( oh!!!! Goosebumps !!!). Where to begin? It's hard to choose, everything here is sugar and spice and yet so nice. So we will begin with our HoD. That super cool man who is always on guard. The support and courage he instills in us are immense (seriously not boasting). Every other teaching staff has done their part in building us up, one way or the other. Entering into the language block, before moving to the classroom, let's take a turn to the department library. The librarians with a pleasant smile (yeah they do smile and care you like their own). Here you are free to walk around the shelves, enveloped by the dusty smell. Have you had butterflies in your stomach discovering some books? Here you get that because each time you come across something really precious. Immersed in the world of books? Never mind, let's stay until you are ready.
Off to our classroom...
Here there are 26 different individuals with different attitudes, politics, and opinions. Each one stands out in their own way. Yet, we are bound up with the single thread of 'thought'. All those heated discussions and thought-provoking statements made in here has indeed taken us ahead. Getting out... that sagging tree branch... the Gulmohar...the Thunjan( that's what we call for a place with a precious collection of ezhutholas, often its corridors are our waiting shed) Just look around and you can see the happy, tensed, relieved "US" scattered around.
The University of Calicut is not a small place and the memories attached to each place is tremendous. Today, taking you around is like diving into the memories. And today along with you I'm stepping out, never truly sure when I would be back. With a bag full of memories and fresh thoughts let's bid goodbye to this place.
Hopefully soon...
